20 Energy Efficiency Tips for Lighting and Appliances
Energy Saving Tips
There are some very simple thing you can do to affect your electricity bills for lighting and appliances. 1. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents.

2. Turn off lights when you leave a room.

3. Turn off equipment or appliances not in use. Use switched outlet strips for appliances that draw current when not in use.

4. Unplug unneeded equipment that draws electricity especially during vacations.

5. Clean light fixtures. Dirt reduces light output.

11. When you purchase a new appliance, TV, or VCR, look for the ENERGY STAR logo which indicates a high efficiency product.

12. Use cold or warm water for clothes washing.

13. Cover pots and pans when cooking.

14. Operate dishwasher, clothes washer, and dryer only when full.

15. Use a microwave oven rather than a regular oven.

16. Turn off oven burners or oven a little before food is done and food will continue to cook.

17. Clean lint filters regularly in clothes dryers.

18. Turn off dishwasher when it reaches the dry cycle, crack the door and let the dishes air dry.
