Michigan GREEN Forms Alliance to Supply Weatherization Programs in Michigan
Michigan Green News

Michigan GREEN, a non-profit organization advancing the cause of energy efficiency and renewable energy, has developed a program to support community action agencies in Michigan that are operating Weatherization Assistance programs.

Kevin Cook, one of the founders of Michigan GREEN and currently serving on the board of directors, has helped put together an alliance that includes Michigan GREEN members MTI Energy Management / Lighting Specialists, Inc. and Niagara Conservation Group. MTI is a Michigan-based company and was selected by Niagara to supply, warehouse and distribute materials needed for weatherization programs in Michigan.

Special pricing has been negotiated with the manufacturer that is designed to be competitive with other national bulk suppliers of energy efficient products. A website has been setup to sell products and service Weatherization Programs in Michigan. Custom services for programs are also available.

Governor Granholm has made it a policy to consider Michigan based businesses first for Michigan programs. Until now the choices for Michigan based suppliers of energy efficient products has been limited to say the least. In keeping with the Governor’s policy, the coalition was formed to provide a Michigan option to supply products and services to these programs. This will help support job creation and economic growth in Michigan.

"I hope that weatherization directors will take a good look at this program as a way to streamline the supply process for their contractors, standardize costs and ensure quality control, always an objective for this program. Having done a thousand infrared scans for many CAAs over the years, I know that quality control of the weatherization process can be a challenge and it begins with the right products. Niagara is a known entity among weatherization directors nationwide and has provided a lot of support to this program for many years. Their partnership with Michigan GREEN and MTI will offer a valuable resource for weatherization operators and their contractors to tap into. And, of course, we’re excited about the benefit this will provide our nonprofit, too.", said Cook. MTI will donate a portion of the proceeds from every order to Michigan GREEN.

The coalition has launched a website (MichiganEnergyConservation.com) to provide products and services for energy programs in Michigan and other states.

"Each weatherization operator will be able to access the site to track deliveries and place orders as needed. MTI will maintain sufficient inventory for each agency and warehouse the materials in Michigan. Products will be distributed to agencies/contractors on an as needed basis. This will allow agencies to take advantage of bulk purchasing without the need to warehouse product. MTI will also provide inventory tracking and reporting for each agency in the program.", said Cook.

If you are looking for a bulk supplier of high quality energy efficient product to service your program visit www.michiganenergyconservation.com to request a login for the site or call 248-446-9502 to talk to one of our representatives. All Michigan and out of state programs are welcome.

MTI was incorporated in 1989 and has been providing a wide range of energy related services to Michigan businesses, utilities, government agencies and residents for over 20 years.

Niagara Conservation Group is a national supplier and manufacturer of energy saving and water conservation products. They are well known for providing top quality products and have vast experience in providing products and services for all types of utility and government energy programs. They specialize in top quality products that are Energy Star® approved and water saving products that meet or exceed ANSI standards.
