Michigan Green News

Delta GREEN Kicks Off at Escanaba City Hall on August 6Delta GREEN will officially kick off operations on August 6 at the Small Business Energy Conservation Symposium being held at Escanaba City Hall. The green community partnership is being funded by a Michigan Public Service Commission grant and Michigan GREEN, an Escanaba-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Doug Russell, Michigan GREEN Executive Director, will also direct Delta GREEN. An exciting facet of the new program will be the opportunity for Delta County businesses to receive FREE energy audits to help them save energy and money. Project funding, if needed, will also be available through the Michigan GREEN Fund.

Russell will introduce the Delta GREEN initiative and announce the start of the FREE energy audit program at the symposium. Other speakers include Delta GREEN coalition members Kevin Cook, G-ENERGY owner and Director of Michigan GREEN Energy Garth Ward of Michigan Wind PowerPrograms; Bob Fegan, DTE/MichCon Principal Energy Management Consultant and Energy Efficiency Program Manager; and Brett Niemi, Energy Services Representative for Wisconsin Public Power Inc. (WPPI).

Garth Ward, a Michigan GREEN member and owner of Traverse City-based Michigan Wind Power LLC, will also appear at the August 6 symposium. Known for delivering innovative alternative energy solutions to the average homeowner, Mr. Ward will bring his tilt-up wind turbine and provide a wind energy demonstration in front of Escanaba City Hall during the symposium. County residents and all others interested are encouraged to attend from 2-5pm.
