 Posted on 9/6/2007 8:20:08 AM
Southfield will get an E85 ethanol pump in a grand opening scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.
The city of Southfield, Sunoco's Group Center Inc., the state of Michigan and NextEnergy, the state's alternative energy industry accelerator, will celebrate the opening at 24848 Southfield Road.
The station added the pump through a biofuels grant incentive from NextEnergy Center in Detroit on behalf of the state Department of Labor and Economic Growth.
The use of E85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, reduces negative impacts on the environment, decreases dependence on foreign oil, and positively impacts Michigan's economy and employment.
The E85 will be sold at a discounted price through Sunday, Sept. 9 -- $2.49 a gallon. |
