ACORE teams up with Partners GREEN and their Project EverGreen Schools Initiative in an effort to transition America's schools
Michigan Green News

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) announced today that it has joined forces with Partners GREEN in signing a letter to President Obama voicing its strong support for the Partners GREEN's project, "Onsite Renewable Energy, Efficiencies and Education at Our Nation's Schools." ACORE and Partners GREEN will ask ACORE Members to join in signing this "Letter to President Obama" before the letter is delivered to the President on February 26, 2009, through the RETECH Conference in Las Vegas, NV.

President Obama has called for renewable energy efficiencies, and educational programs to be brought to our nation's schools and, in response to that challenge, Partners GREEN launched a petition drive to secure support for a national energy policy consistent with President Obama's goal for "greening" the nation's schools.

ACORE Board Member Bill Holmberg said, "The President's challenge for renewable energy and efficiencies in the classrooms of America is a priority for us. We pledge to make energy literacy accessible to all children while endorsing onsite renewable energy generation at our nation's schools. To this end, ACORE has established an educational committee to identify post-secondary renewable energy activities that are readily adoptable at learning campuses throughout the nation.  We will also work with the National Energy Education Development Project to carry this challenge into primary and secondary schools."

"We are truly honored to share a common agenda with two of the nation's most prominent voices in renewable energy and energy literacy - ACORE and Project EverGREEN Schools" said William Naubert, President pro-tem, Partners GREEN Board. "The synergy of effort helps to elevate our advocacy of onsite renewable energy generation and education.  We welcome ACORE's alliance and acknowledge their legacy of selfless efforts toward energy self-reliance."

Additionally, in addressing the information and implementation needs of educators and administrators, a "Project EverGREEN Schools" workshop will be held at ACORE's Las Vegas RETECH conference, February 25-27, 2009. ACORE is extending an invitation to education professionals and community leaders to attend these sessions which will bring educators up to speed on the latest renewable energy technologies and learnings on how to incorporate green efficiencies and programs into their campuses.  To register for RETECH, sign up at www.retech2009.com.
